The IGIA Growers Committee has partnered with the experts at Purdue Horticulture to provide the education your team needs before the next growing season. We’ve compiled a comprehensive agenda to provide both new and seasoned employees with a brush-up on techniques to manage weeds in the nursery.
Join us from 8:30am - 3:30pm at the College of DuPage. Lunch will be served and is included in the cost of registration. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required.

- Weed ID and understanding weed pressure (60 minutes)
- Science of how the chemicals work related to woody plants to herbaceous plants (15 minutes)
- Help in developing a rotation program for pre-emergents (90 minutes)
- Residual effects of rates used – determine proper rate for spraying
- Common sign or signals of when to spray to prevent weeds
- Calendar for when to spray
- Calibration of equipment (60 minutes)
- Ride-along, boom sprayers, backpack sprayers
- Fundamentals – how to spray for good coverage, nozzle selection, how that affects drift (45 minutes)
- Most common mistakes and solutions (60 minutes)
