Q: What motivates you on a Monday morning?
Allyson: Coffee, plants, plant growth, our awesome staff, our loyal customers, accomplishing the weekly goals and a feeling of tackling the weekAllyson Hoffmeyer

Q: What has been your proudest moment in business?
Allyson: It is very difficult to pinpoint one from the last 31 years. What I perennially take pride in, is the plant quality we grow and the Hoffie people that grow as individuals and as a team.

Q: What has been your biggest business challenge?
Allyson: Mother Nature has always been our biggest challenge. She calls the shots on many levels.

Q: Share a fun fact about you that many people don't know.
Allyson: I do a great frog imitation.

Do you have a horticulture or business mentor? Is there any wisdom they have given you that you'd like to share?
Allyson: My husband Carsten is the reason I am in the horticulture world. We married and began Hoffie Nursery the same year. I would consider my mentor as well. He has always said, through the good and the hard times, 'There are noAllyson and Carsten problems, only challenges.'

Q: What's your favorite plant?
Allyson: This is the most difficult question! If I had to choose only one, I would have to say Papaver/Poppy.

Q: If you could go back in time and offer words of wisdom to a younger version of yourself starting out in this business, what would that be?
Allyson: Look before you leap.

Q: What made you decide to become involved in a leadership role in the association?
Allyson: We have always been members of IGIA. We have always gained so much from IGIA, both personally and professionally. When you believe in an organization's mission and its people, you just instinctually want to be involved. It is an honor and a privledge to be involved!

Q: What would you say to your peers who may be hesitant to get involved with the association or not understand the importance of belonging to an industry group?
Allyson: It is a win-win situation to be involved and belong to the IGIA. The relationships are invaluable. The information and resources are very beneficial. The sense of a community is comforting.

We did much of our own propagation for Hoffie Nursery and saw a significant improvement in the finished product when using our high quality liners Right from the GET go! We, Carsten and Allyson Hoffmeyer, then decided to begin GET Group as a separate and new company, to produce and supply liners to the wholesale market. LEARN MORE
